MES Family Update- Week #4

School Safety!

The safety and security of our students and staff continues to be one of our highest priorities at MES. We want our families to know that we are consistently reviewing and practicing our safety procedures so that our school community is prepared to respond appropriately in an emergency.

This week, our school completed our first lockdown drill of the school year. These drills give our students and staff an opportunity to practice what to do and help us identify areas where we can continue to improve our procedures. Pre-K and Kindergarten do not take part in the first two lockdown drills, but teachers take this time to talk about what it means to be safe with their class. We will conduct another lockdown drill next week as part of our ongoing safety practices.

We also want to remind families that all exterior doors remain closed and locked throughout the school day. As construction continues around our building, we are also communicating consistently with our construction crew about the importance of maintaining secure exterior doors. The expectation remains the same for everyone working in and around our school: doors are to remain closed and locked.

We understand that drills and construction can sometimes create questions or concerns for families. Please know that these practices are intentional and are designed to help us maintain a safe and secure learning environment for every Lion.

Thank you for partnering with us and for reinforcing the importance of listening to adults, following directions, and taking safety procedures seriously. Together, we can continue to make MES a place where our students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.
